Shillong College, established in 1956, was re-assessed and re-accredited by NAAC, Bangalore, and has been awarded 3.06 CGPA. It is one of the premiere institutes of the State and around 2500 students in its roll. The College continues to provide quality education to the students, at the same time to inculcate knowledge, discover students’ talents and to encourage and promote discipline, secularism, right values which will nurture the rich composite culture of our country and to make the students good human beings and worthy citizens.
Our special gratitude to the Department of Computer Science and Applications and all those who are involved in setting up and maintaining the Shillong College Website with all relevant information.
I have taken over the charge of Principal on 1st July 2011. As I place on record my full regards to all my predecessors, I understand that I have a daunting task ahead to raise the flag of the college higher and higher and to reach to even higher goals of academic excellence. We are contemplating to provide necessary infrastructure, start new courses, open new subjects as well as start some certificate/diploma courses which will enable the students to compete in job-market with greater skill and distinction. This college is one such institution which gives priority to the needs of disadvantaged group of students and also all sorts’ extra-curricular activities that would make the students a complete man devoted to welfare of society and the country. Let us try to cultivate all such qualities and proceed ahead with utmost commitment and dedication by striving to achieve and fulfill the mission and the vision of the College.
We are having an excellent brand of faculty members and support staffs who are completely devoted to welfare of the students and uplifting the quality of education and cordial atmosphere in the College. They are not daunted by odds, but are armed with the passion and perseverance to overcome them. This is the impetus for our sustenance and growth. Let us remember the sayings of George Washington Carver (1864 –1943), the American scientist, botanist, educator, and inventor, who believed, “Ninety-nine percent of all failures come from people who have a habit of making excuses”.
I am hopeful that the teachers, staff and students both past and present, parents and guardians and the public at large will go through the Website for getting information about the College.
Let the blessings of happiness, prosperity and success be showered on all.
