1. Name of the Club: TECHIES Club

2. Year of Formation: 2006

3. Introduction / Background:

The “Techies Club”, which is a Departmental students’ club, was formed in 2006. The Club was formed in order to build a sense of unity, love and respect among all students belonging to all semesters of the Computer Science and Applications department, working together in achieving success for all aspects of the department itself.

4. Aims and Objectives:

The main objective of the Techies Club is to allow students to expand their activities beyond the normal classroom interactions and sessions.

The club conducts different activities which include holding social gatherings such as the Freshers’ meet, the Farewell meet etc., academic activities such as holding seminars, paper presentations, holding programming competitions, conducting Orientation courses on basic computer applications etc. all for the benefit of fellow students of the department and of the college in general.

The following enumerates the contribution of the Club:

1. The Club Conducts Computer Awareness Courses for the students who do not have computer as one of their subjects.

2. Conducting Computer Awareness Camps to the under-privileged students of Rural Meghalaya.

3. Maintaining the Bulletin Board with up-to-date articles.

4. Active Participation in Inter College Competitions like debates, sports etc.

5. Constitution/Bye Laws:

(i) Elections for renewing student members of the Club are conducted once a year.

(ii) The club collects a maintenance fee of Rs. 10 per month from the members. The amount is utilized for various activities the Club conducts.
